This is the Goddess Durga in the Hindu faith. She is one of three incarnations of the Goddess Shakti. This goddess is celebrated during the festival Navratri, which is a 9 night celebration.
Read more about Navratri, and see how the students at The Galaxy Education System in Rajkot, Gujarat, India are celebrating this very important festival in India. The celebrations and dancing are stunning, and they are being broadcast live to a global audience through Justin.tv, which is a tool we will be using in the Food and Culture project as well! Free videoconferencing and sharing! Imagine how motivated your students will be to watch live performances of students in India (almost exactly the opposite side of the planet for many of us!).
