Project Timeline

Picture
H. G. Wells Time Machine
This global project is enormous in scope. More than a pen pal project between two or three classrooms, this project is designed to engage students all over the world in rigorous, relevant and real-world research. Therefore, it will take a little more time to get going.

1. Recruit Participants - August through December and ongoing - Our first steps will be to recruit classrooms worldwide, and it is going to take the efforts of all of us to make that happen. We need time to not only recruit classrooms but to recruit experts in various fields; we will need chefs, farmers, scientists, authors, environmentalists and more. So even though we may not launch the project in the classroom until January, there is a lot of preparation to be done, beginning as soon as possible.

2. Develop the Curriculum - August - December and ongoing - 21st Century Schools initiated this project and will spend a lot of time designing curriculum, organizing it, searching out resources and great ideas. We will provide a flexible framework for this curriculum so that you can adapt it to your schedule and the classes you are teaching. Some people will have the luxury of participating in the project all year long, while others may only be able to participate an hour or two a week. Some will participate through an After School and summer program.

3. January - launch the projects in the classroom.
